DRC SOLIDARITY ACTION: BUILD A TINY HOUSE AT THE AMNESTY TORONTO OFFICE

  • AICS Toronto Office 1992 Yonge Street Toronto, ON, M4S 1Z7 Canada (map)

How are your LEGO skills? Amnesty needs them, or any other crafty skills, to make a tiny house. A pencil drawing, water colour or photograph would be great too!

Your tiny house, or a photo of it, will be on display outside the DRC embassy in Ottawa on September 12 or posted on social media, as Amnesty organizes a Global Day of Action for the new Powering Change campaign.

You see, in the world’s search for cobalt, copper and lithium to drive the energy transition, governments like that of the DRC are forcibly evicting people and destroying homes near mining sites. Your tiny house will represent the many homes lost to the expansion of industrial cobalt and copper mines in the DRC and help to focus attention on this human rights violation.

BUILD A TINY HOUSE AT THE AMNESTY TORONTO OFFICE

If you are based in Toronto you can build your tiny house with others at the Amnesty Toronto office on Tuesday August 22nd between 6 and 8:30 pm.  Materials provided, or bring your own if you wish. Coming straight from work? There will be refreshments.

Questions and to RSVP: Contact Marilyn at marilynjmckim@gmail.com.
